Sindhu Darshan in Leh Ladakh
Sindhu festival is celebrated to worship river Sindhu. This festival showcases the rich culture of the Ladakh and also promotes the handicrafts of the town. This festival is celebrated every year for three days, in the Shey manla. Sindhu festival is celebrated in the month of June, on the bank of river Sindhu.
It is said that this festival, which is dedicated to the Sindhu river, shows the rich culture and heritage of the Ladakh. Sindhu river, which is the longest river, is a representation of multi dimension culture and harmony in India. This festival is also celebrated to pay the homage to the brave soldiers who sacrificed their lives on the border of India.
Sindhu festival is started by the grand ceremony by many Ladakh religious associations. Many cultural programs are performed by the different state people. This festival is first celebrated in the year 1997. People gather on the Sindhu river bank and celebrated the festival with show and pomp. People from different states fill the earthen pots with the Sindhu river water and shows the love and respect for the river.
In the evening, bonfire is held where everyone sing and dance around the fire and enjoy the grand feast in the night.
