Precautions in Leh Ladakh
Ladakh is located at a high altitude of 10,000 ft. above the sea level and on this highest altitude; the oxygen level is very low. The sickness can occur to any one because people are not used to lower oxygen level. The most common symptoms of sickness are headache, disturb sleep, loss of appetite, nausea, coughing, irregular breathing, short breathness, exhaustion and lack of concentration. So, it is advisable to take the following precautions to get used to higher oxygen level.
- Take proper rest for the first 36 hours of reaching Ladakh. Do not plan to go anywhere as you will need some time to get used to yourself.
- Consult a doctor or hospital immediately if you feel any of the above-mentioned symptoms. Doctors are always available on call.
- Tourists going for Mountaineering and trekking in Ladakh should take precautions. There is no private mid-air rescue in Ladakh and only the Indian air force is engage as a life saving measure.
